Keep Learnpoint, get all of DOJO: how one school did it

A school read its programmes, classes, students and staff in from Learnpoint to DOJO. Learnpoint stays the learning platform, DOJO runs the rest.

"We don't want to change learning platforms. Can we still use DOJO?" It's one of the questions we hear most. The answer is yes, and now we've done it with a school's real data: the school's programmes, classes, students and staff were read in from its Learnpoint into DOJO. Learnpoint stays the learning platform. DOJO takes care of the rest.

Where the school started

The school runs Learnpoint, and teachers and students are at home there. Switching learning platforms in the middle of a cohort is costly and disruptive, and it's rarely where a school's biggest problems are. Those sit around it: admissions, the steering group (ledningsgrupp), LIA work placements, diplomas and the evidence MYH wants to see. That work often lives in spreadsheets, email threads and folders only one person can find their way around.

What we did

We read the school's data in from Learnpoint to DOJO:

  • Programmes, so every programme exists in DOJO with the right name and structure.
  • Classes, that is the cohorts, linked to the right programme.
  • Students, placed in their classes.
  • Staff, so teachers and administrators are in place from day one.

Nothing was typed in by hand. The data came from what the school already had, and this was done with a real school's data, not in a test environment.

Learnpoint stays, DOJO on top

DOJO is built in modules. The Foundation, with programmes, courses, classes, students, teachers and staff, is always included. That's what is now filled with the school's data. On top of it, the school can use the modules it needs without touching its learning platform:

  • The Admin & Compliance module covers admissions from application to decision, the steering group with meetings, decisions and a check of the workplace majority, diplomas with supplements, and the evidence MYH asks for.
  • In the Company & LIA module the school follows every LIA placement, with check-ins, supervision and evaluation.
  • In the Economy module the school follows state funding per period, with expenses, salaries and SIE export.

Every module reads from the same students and the same classes. Once a student is in DOJO, they are also in LIA and on the diploma, without anyone typing the same thing twice.

Why this matters

Many schools have held back from a new system because they thought it meant replacing everything at once. It doesn't. You can start with one module, keep what works and let DOJO handle what lives in spreadsheets today.

The data comes in once and is then used everywhere. What's needed from another system, for example grades from the learning platform for the diplomas, can be synced in through our Integration API, which is part of the platform.

Running Learnpoint, or something else?

Learnpoint is one of the integrations we deliver, alongside itslearning, Canvas, Fortnox, Visma and Microsoft 365, among others. We set it up for your school as part of onboarding, and scope and price are in the quote. If you run another system, we build a custom integration. Read more on the integrations page, or book a demo and we'll show you what it looks like with your own data.
